UPDATE ON THURSDAY, 31st MARCH
Good Afternoon, Nine weeks to go before we start our Jubilee celebrations in Snape — I was going to put the number of days, but it sounded too far away!
The work behind the scenes is really coming together, thanks to all the help. The flyer has been printed and will be distributed in the April "Ebb and Flow".
We have lots to bring to the meeting on Tuesday evening, but one thing I am really so excited to share is that we have FINALLY FOUND AN ICE-CREAM VAN, who will come along to the Tea Party. We still HAVEN'T FOUND A FACE-PAINTER yet though!
Hope to see you at the next Jubilee Planning Meeting on Tuesday evening, 5th April, 7pm in the Village Hall.
UPDATE ON TUESDAY, 15th MARCH
The flyer is now off to the printers for inclusion in April's "Ebb and Flow", but you can
view and/or download it on our main «QPJ» webpage by clicking here —
there's also a convenient link to that page from the homepage.
Further updates (such as ticketing/competition-form arrangements) will appear in this blog,
but you can be alerted to them if you
email QPJ@snapevillage.info to be added to the circulation list.
Regular blog-bulletin recipients will receive them automatically.
Date of the next Jubilee meeting is Tuesday 5th April, at 7pm at Snape Village Hall,
we welcome volunteers.
UPDATE ON SUNDAY, 13th MARCH
With only some 12 weeks to go until the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend, things are progressing along nicely. The village will be encouraged to decorate the front of their homes and gardens to commemorate the Jubilee over the four-day period. A prize, kindly donated by Snape Maltings, will be given for the best decorated home/garden.
Jubilee tree planting is to take place on the play area at Pryor Close, hopefully next to a new “Talking Seat” (a place for people who'd just appreciate a chat with someone). The tree is to be registered on the Queen’s Green Canopy website. Planting of the tree will hopefully occur in March.
A Jubilee flag has kindly been donated by the Royal British Legion and will fly on the flag pole at the Village Hall.
The Festival of Suffolk have organised a 550-mile torch relay which will visit 250 towns and villages in Suffolk, as part of a major event celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, starting Friday 13th May. On Day 18, Monday 30th May, the torch will make its way from Aldeburgh to Snape and on to Orford, ending up at the Suffolk Showground on 1st June. A Snape resident will be invited to carry the torch for Snape, transported through the village by rickshaw.

UPDATE ON THURSDAY, 17th FEBRUARY: SNAPE VILLAGE CELEBRATES
During these stormy days of February, we can look forward to the balmy days of June, when Snape Village celebrates …
You can click on the poster above to download it.
UPDATE ON TUESDAY, 8th FEBRUARY: OUR THIRD PROGRESS MEETING
Following our third meeting on Tuesday 1st, Snape is well and truly progressing with its plans to commemorate the Queens Platinum Jubilee, starting on Thursday 2nd June.
First of all, a couple of pleas …
If anyone has unwanted pallets, then these would be gratefully received for the lighting of the Beacon on the Thursday — so meanwhile put them by!
Just now, we're also looking to book a FACE-PAINTER for the Tea Party on the Sunday afternoon, the 5th — if you know of (or ARE!) one, please let us know!
Funding has been received so far from the Snape Carol Singers, Snape Grumpy Old Men and Snape Parish Council. Funding has also been promised from East Suffolk district Councillors Russ Rainger, Tom Daley and Tony Cooper. Snape Village Hall Management Committee has kindly offered the use of the hall and gazebos.
It is hoped to give every child who attends Snape Primary School, a commemorative Jubilee medal — and Suffolk County Councillor Andrew Reid has agreed to give a grant towards this.
The village will be encouraged to decorate the front of their homes and gardens to commemorate the Jubilee over the four-day period. A prize will be given for the best decorated home/garden — details of how to enter nearer the time.
Thursday 2nd June: The evening event at the Church starts at the amended time of 7:00pm.
The BBQ is to be provided by The Golden Key — charges for food apply, and bring your own drink and a deckchair. There won't be an Act of Worship but we're hoping for PA and music along, as you can see, with a Piper.
Snape Maltings have kindly offered a minibus to transport residents to and from the Beacon event, if they're unable to walk to the Church — more details nearer the time.
Sunday 5th June: Snape Village Tea Party, 2:00pm until 5pm at Snape Village Hall.
This will be a free event for Snape Residents. Everyone will be encouraged to bring a plate of food for the Banquet Table — and to come dressed in red, white and blue to add to the fun. There will be plenty of entertainment, including music and song from our very own Snape musicians, and a Toastmaster. A drone will capture the event from above and it is hoped that an aerial photograph will be possible. Everyone will be given a free ticket for the Grand Raffle.
It is hoped to have a face-painter and an arts & crafts table to keep the children entertained, but volunteers are still needed for both — FACE-PAINTER NEEDED.
Other activities to include games & competitions, an exhibition of photographs and slide show and an artistic display by Snape School.
Entry forms to be completed before the day — details will be advertised nearer the time. Prizes will awarded, so get your thinking caps on and start planning!
Snape Maltings have kindly offered a minibus to transport residents to and from the Tea Party, if they're unable to walk to the Village Hall — again, more details nearer the time.
The next progress meeting takes place on Tuesday, 8th March at 7:00pm,
and we welcome volunteers. For any further information, please contact —

UPDATE ON WEDNESDAY, 27th OCTOBER 2021: OUR SECOND PROGRESS MEETING
Our second Queen's Platinum Jubilee Planning Meeting took place last night, and was again well attended by the enthusiastic planners.
Festival of Suffolk is encouraging lasting projects as a legacy to the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. Suggestions for Snape include
— a new board walk in Snape;
— ask the School if there's something that could be done there;
— planting a native oak as a lasting legacy, which GreenSnape is keen to carry out.
THURSDAY, 2nd JUNE 2022 at SNAPE CHURCH:
There is a slight amendment to the previously planned Jubilee church service, as it is unlikely that a Benefice Service will take place at Snape Church on the Sunday.
SUNDAY, 5th JUNE 2022 — Snape Village Platinum Jubilee Tea Party at the VILLAGE HALL:
This will take place from 2pm to 5:30pm, on a similar format to the Queen's 90th Birthday party in June 2016 at Snape Village Hall. A Prize Raffle is also planned, and everyone attending the party will be given a free raffle ticket on arrival. The Tea Party will be a free event for Snape residents, friends and family.
There will be lots of entertainment, which will include music and song, as well as an archive slide show and games/activities. It is hoped that an Apache helicopter will make a special fly-past over the Village Hall. Also planned is that the whole event is captured from above by photographs and video — and all to be overseen below by our very own "Toastmaster".
Five key competitions are planned by the two dedicated "Competition Organisers" — Royal decorated cake, Fun Snape photograph, Queens floral posy, Jubilee painting and Decorated Crown. Information on how to enter the competitions will be advertised nearer the time.
A draft timetable for the format of the afternoon events is to be put together, for consideration at the next planning meeting. More details will be advertised as we progress with the planning.
Funding has kindly been offered by the Parish Council and Village Hall Committee; and applications have also been sent to Russ Rainger (ESC) and Andrew Reid (SCC). Snape Parish Council has offered to hold any donations of funds in its bank account.
Date of next planning meeting: Tuesday 1st February 2022, 7pm in Snape Village Hall.

UPDATE ON MONDAY, 18th OCTOBER
It was lovely to have so many enthusiastic people at our first planning meeting in September. The next Queen's Platinum Jubilee planning meeting is next Tuesday, 26th October, 7pm in the Village Hall — all welcome.
We have had lots of offers of help since the first meeting which is wonderful — the wheels are now definitely in motion for Snape to celebrate in June 2022.
For a plea for a variety of helpers/organisers, please see October's "Ebb and Flow" page 11.
There are MANY ways in which you can take part!
