A very big thank you to everyone who came to the Parish Council’s briefing meeting on the Sea Link project a couple of weeks ago. More than 40 people attended the session which was addressed by Marianne Fellowes and Fiona Gilmore [of SEAS, Suffolk Energy Action Solutions].

Marianne gave a very useful and comprehensive explanation of how the Planning Enquiry into the National Grid Sea Link proposal [at Wood Farm, Sternfield, IP17 1XE] will work. She emphasised how important it is for local people to influence the shape of the Enquiry by registering as an ‘Interested Party’ and making an initial ‘Representation'. Marianne made it clear that the process for registering is straightforward and that it is the only opportunity for people to make known their concerns and worries about the impact that the project will have on them individually and the wider community.
Fiona gave a very upbeat view about the alternative solutions that National Grid should be deploying to distribute offshore wind generated electricity across the UK using brownfield sites and offshore infrastructure. Fiona was able to detail a set of proposals which recognise the vital importance of offshore wind generated electricity using cheaper and smarter networks.
Both Fiona and Marianne answered detailed questions and responded to discussion. Very many thanks to both of them for giving up so much time to speak to us.
Please do your best to register as an Interested Party by 23rd June.
It WILL make a difference!
