Two schemes have been announced this week by the Post Office to allow people who are shielded or self-isolating, mainly elderly, to maintain access to cash without having to hand over a debit card and PIN to somebody else (although that service remains too). They are already available at Snape PO (which is currently open only on Monday afternoons).
The two new services are summarised below, but the full BBC article (from which this has been extracted) can be read at https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-52229698. Then, at the foot of this blog, is set out the official Post Office internal procedure, kindly passed to us, in order to take advantage of each method. Please pass this information on to anyone who you feel could benefit from the new arrangements.
Both schemes come with a warning that people should only use friends and volunteers who are completely trusted, they should only withdraw cash they really need, and should not be put under any pressure to do so.
