Matt Gunns, Community Engagement Officer at Saxmundham's Christies Care dropped in at a recent Meet-Up-Mondays session, with notice of an NHS Wellbeing Event that is being hosted by them on Wednesday, 7th May from 1:00pm until 3:00. It is rare to have so many great organisations in one place at one time in Saxmundham. The event is run by the NHS, but hosted on their behalf by Christies, as they can provide free parking, free refreshments and charge no venue hire.
One of the key attendees will be Disability Advice Services (DAS) who are much like Citizens' Advice, but specialise in supporting those living with conditions and what they are entitled to. They advise children and adults with disability-related issues, as well as advising family members and carers.
The attendees/'stallholders' are:
Alzheimer's Society
Cancer Support Suffolk
Disability Advice Services (see above)
Communities Together East Anglia
Viral Hepatitis Team - East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust
ActivLives (including ActivHubs, ActivGardens, ActivSport and ActivSingers)
Suffolk GP Federation
GamFam (recovering from the effects of gambling)
Suffolk Family Carers
Community Action Suffolk
Jodie Louise Footcare
Samaritans of Ipswich and East Suffolk
Realise Futures to improve/promote economic/social wellbeing of the disadvantaged/disabled
The event will take place at Christies Care, Street Farm Road, Saxmundham, IP17 1AL.
They are situated just beyond the entrance to the Library and Fromus Centre.
Peter W has kindly offered to take anyone without easy access to transport to this NHS Wellbeing Event. Anyone within Snape (or around the Maltings) who requires such a lift should register their interest with a call to Snape Good Neighbours on ☏ 0754 1754 426, leaving a message on our answerphone.
If you know someone living within the Village, Saxmundham or nearby, who could benefit from this care support event but would not necessarily see this blog, would you please pass this on to them? Thanks.
