UPDATED ON 14th APRIL, 2025
—
The East Suffolk Water Management Board [formerly the internal drainage board, but now with extended responsibilities] hosted a Q&A on Monday 7th April at Snape Village Hall which was well attended. This included a presentation by Pete Roberts, Upper Alde & Ore Project Engineering Delivery Manager on the work they are carrying out on the Alde and Ore river defence upgrades.
The secured funding has enabled the Board to move ahead with critical flood defence upgrades, and they expect to begin construction later this year at 'Flood Cell 6' (Snape Maltings, where there was initial mitigation work in February) and 'FC7' (on the Snape Village/north-side of the river). These improvements will strengthen our estuary’s resilience, protecting homes, farmland and wildlife for generations to come.
The Board have recently issued a newsletter, the first page of which is reproduced below. You can download the full update by clicking upon it.
The update's page 2 includes several links to further information, should you require it.
