School garden work party
Once again GreenSnape's offer of a work party at the School has been accepted. The purpose will be to get their vegetable garden ready for the growing season.
We do hope you can make the early afternoon of the 27th, even if not for the full period. Any time you could spare would be most helpful. Stout shoes or boots plus gardening gloves are recommended, and please bring any equipment you think would be useful - spade, fork, rake, tubs/buckets, wheelbarrow, secateurs, loppers, shears. No need to let us know beforehand, just turn up on the day!
The School would also be grateful for donations of the following, if you can spare them:
old carpet (ideally natural & without foam backing so it doesn't contaminate soil) or thick black plastic for weed suppression,
fruit trees, fruit plants (e.g. strawberries, raspberries),
perennials for flowers and wildlife.
Also very welcome would be:
a functioning wheelbarrow,
a nice bench or good tools,
ornamental big pots for the playground etc.
They'd also like to develop a patch of common comfrey for the bees and so they can make their own plant food, if anyone has any spare plants.
☞ If anyone would like to offer additional help, Kinna Mosley, the school's forest school teacher, will be at the school at 12.30pm on Thursday 6th February, and she would be happy to see you.
