POSTED ON MONDAY, 21st OCTOBER
—
[This morning, Benjamin Gulliford of Coastal Accessible Transport Services (CATS) visited us at our Meet Up Mondays session. CATS have taken over the Katch bus operation to add to the Suffolk Coastal "Connecting Communities" area service that it already administered, to offer a local one-stop shop for an integrated transport alternative. All three services are administered by the same staff from the CATS office in Leiston.
— Snape Good Neighbour Scheme / Meet Up Mondays.]
Services | CATS is for those who don't have easy access to a car — or who don't have access to (or can't easily use) public transport. It provides a Community Car Service and a Dial-a-Ride Service (for both of which annual registration is required). It also offers a Demand Responsive Bus Service, including for work and for public-transport connections. | "Katch a lift with your bookable bus" between Snape Church and Framlingham via Wickham Mkt Railway Station (Campsea Ashe) and W/M High St (on the square, near the Medical Centre). It doesn't run to a timetable, but is an on-demand service, cheaper than a taxi. | Connecting Communities: If there are no regular bus services to make your journey, or you are unable to get to your nearest bus stop, CC is able to collect and connect you. For longer journeys, the service will connect you to other bus or train services. You can also make multiple bookings. | |||

The CATS staff can also advise you on travel using their services together, |
[Incidentally, we have now formally agreed with CATS that they might pass tasks requested of them by residents of Snape and Dunningworth (around the Maltings), that they find they can't accommodate themselves, on to us at the Snape Good Neighbour Scheme. Very rarely in the past, SGNS have had to refer requests to CATS to fill, as none of our volunteer drivers happened to be available.
Benjamin also drew our attention to Suffolk County Council's 2024 Rural Transport Survey, which is open until 30th November, with a view to shaping future rural transport services. You can take part in the survey here.— SGNS]
