The Old Mill, Snape
The Old Mill, Snape is a former Post Mill dating from 1797 that overlooks the village of Snape and The Maltings (a short walk away) and the River Alde beyond. It was originally converted in 1937 by Benjamin Britten, where he lived until 1947 and where he composed “Peter Grimes.”
The property still retains the character Britten brought to it, but has been extensively updated and refurbished in the past year and now offers very comfortable holiday accommodation in either of two separate cottages within the grounds. Both are very private with their own garden and parking, and both are stylishly presented and equipped with all the facilities you would expect in four star accommodation.
The Miller’s Cottage: The larger of the two cottages, The Miller’s Cottage sleeps two, is south facing and has a newly refitted and updated modern kitchen (dishwasher, washing machine, microwave with grill, induction hob, etc.), a new powerful shower, a very comfortable sitting room (Wi-Fi, TV, two settees), and a double bedroom with super kingsize bed.
The Garden Cottage: A somewhat smaller cottage, The Garden Cottage has also been completely refitted and updated with a new, fully equipped kitchen and powerful shower. It is open plan with large floor to ceiling south facing windows, French doors, and porch that overlook the adjoining countryside. It also sleeps two in a double bed. There is also Wi Fi and TV.
